I continued my "One Way" series in the morning service with a message entitled, "OneWay to Live for Christ" (Romans 13:11-14).

TEXTUAL IDEA: Paul encouraged the Romans to live with urgency for Jesus Christ.

SERMON IDEA: The only way to live for Christ is to live with urgency.

How do I live a life of urgency for Jesus Christ?

This text reveals 3 characteristics of a life lived with urgency for Jesus Christ.

I. You will live with urgency for Jesus Christ by understanding that your time is determined (11).
Martyn Lloyd-Jones: The world would not go on living as it does for a second if it knew something about the judgment to come.

Ephesians 5:16: redeeming the time, because the days are evil.

Ephesians 5:14: Therefore He says: “Awake, you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.”

1 Peter 4:7: But the end of all things is at hand; therefore be serious and watchful in your prayers.

II. You will live with urgency for Jesus Christ by understanding that your sin is dangerous (12-13).
Jude 6: And the angels who did not keep their proper domain, but left their own abode, He has reserved in everlasting chains under darkness for the judgment of the great day.

Ephesians 5:8, 11: For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light. And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.

Ephesians 4:22: that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts.

1 Thessalonians 5:8: But let us who are of the day be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet the hope of salvation.

Ephesians 6:11: Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.

III. You will live with urgency for Jesus Christ by understanding that your holiness is deliberate (14).
Philippians 3:13-14: Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.

Galatians 5:16: I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.

Romans 8:5: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.

We did not have Sunday evening services because of the Labor Day holiday.
