Missions and Ministry (M&M)
“For even the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve others…” Mark 10:45 (NLT)
This unique ministry makes an effort to show the love of Jesus and share the good news of salvation through various ministry opportunities and mission projects. We believe that when you show you care, you earn the right to share. If you are interested in helping with this ministry, contact the lead team members, Brenda Mercer and Amy Lester.
H.E.A.R.T. Ministries is a 6 week/12 step alcohol and drug addiction recovery program for ladies 18 years and older. We visit this ministry every 5th Saturday of the year and share a devotion, prayer, games, dessert and fellowship with the ladies. We have a wonderful time and if you would like to join us contact Vicki Dougherty at firstname.lastname@example.org or Brenda Mercer at email@example.com.
Our next visit will be on Saturday, April 29, 2017. We will meet at the church at 4:00pm and leave to drive to Lavonia. We would love to have you come with us as we minister to these wonderful ladies.
The Lottie Moon Christmas Shoppe!
We are looking forward to our annual Lottie Moon Christmas Shoppe opening this year on November 13, 2016 and going through December 18th, 2016. All proceeds from the sale goes to the Lottie Moon Offering.
We are already collecting NEW and GENTLY USED items for our shoppe. Christmas decorations, household decorations, kids games, jewelry, etc. If you have items to donate, please contact Brenda Mercer at firstname.lastname@example.org. I know us ladies look forward to this each year!
Last year we raised $1,500.25 to give to the Lottie Moon Offering. So let’s see if we can raise even more this year!
Backpacks for Appalachia
Get ready for our Annual Backpacks for Appalachia ministry this year. Last year we filled up 70 backpacks to send to kids in Appalachia. We were able to be a part of 31,396 backpacks being given to children in Appalachia. And as a result of that, there were 1,317 reported professions of faith. Pray for those that received the backpacks last year and the ones who professed faith in Jesus. And begin praying now for the ones who will be receiving the backpacks this year. Pray for the children and their parents or grandparents that this generous act will shower them with God’s love for them.
Here is a list of items to begin collecting for children ages 4-14 (all items must be NEW and able to fit in the backpacks we will provide):
Clothes for ages 4-14
Can Food with Pop Tops
We need volunteers to help get all the items together and in order according to age and type, so if you are willing to help with this fun event, contact Brenda Mercer at email@example.com.
Wednesday night, November 2, 2016 at 6:30pm all GA’s and RA’s ,youth and adults that are volunteering to help out will pack the backpacks together. Last year we had about 78 children, teens and adults to help. It was very organized and the backpacks were packed up and ready to go in no time at all. So, come and get in on the fun of picking out items to go into the backpacks. Each child needs an adult to help them pack the correct amount of items in the backpacks. Below are a few pictures from LAST YEARS party.
